Session Types

Abstract proposals must identify a desired session type. Abstract authors will propose content to fill the entire duration of the workshop or session for which they submit. Abstract authors will also coordinate with any presenters they include to determine the structure and format within their workshop or session. Except for Lightning Sessions, NACCHO does not stipulate the length of individual presentationsView the below descriptions to find out more about each:

  1. Pre-Conference Workshop – 8 hours
    • An interactive event that engages attendees in the comprehensive or in-depth discussion and exploration of topic area(s).
    • Maximum of 3 speakers, plus 1 moderator allowed.
  2. Pre-Conference Workshop – 4 hours
    • An interactive event that engages attendees in the comprehensive or in-depth discussion and exploration of topic area(s).
    • Maximum of 3 speakers, plus 1 moderator allowed.
  3. Sharing Session – 90 minutes
    • Features presentations, panel discussions, or hands-on activities.
    • Maximum of 3 speakers, plus 1 moderator allowed.
  4. Sharing Session – 60 minutes
    • Features presentations, panel discussions, or hands-on activities.
    • Maximum of 3 speakers, plus 1 moderator allowed.
  5. Lightning Session – 60 minutes
    • Features 5-7 minute presentations that briefly introduce new or innovative topics and concepts, with remaining time for questions, answers, and open discussion.
    • 5 speakers (required) plus 1 moderator (allowed).
  6. Poster Session – 90 minutes
    • Maximum of 2 presenters allowed.
    • Poster sessions will take place during the 90-minute lunch break on Tuesday and Wednesday of the conference. During this time, attendees will be able to view the posters and ask presenter questions. Presenters are expected be at their posters but are not expected to actively present.
  7. Post-Conference Workshop – 3 hours
    • An interactive event that engages attendees in the comprehensive or in-depth discussion and exploration of topic area(s).
    • Maximum of 3 speakers, plus 1 moderator allowed.
    • Occurs 1:00-4:00 PM ET on Thursday, August, 23.
